So What's it Really Like?

a parent's guide to the business of theatre

Is your child thinking about a career in professional theatre?

Join one of Canada’s most versatile and consistent actors in a fun and informative seminar about life in "Show Biz"

Are you as prepared as possible to help them succeed?

This 1.5 Hour session will cover, discuss and provide insider information on topics such as:

College/University Training, Auditions, Employment, Agents, Unions and the long term life in the Theatre.

There will also be a question & answer section where you will be free to ask the tough questions you've been wondering about this competitive, complicated and multi-faceted business.

After almost 50 professional productions, Heather McGuigan is one of Canada's most consistent and established actors. A graduate of the Sheridan College-Performance Program, represented by The Talent House, she has worked coast to coast in Canada and the US with such companies as MTC, Chemainus, Grand Theatre, Theatre Aquarius, Neptune Theatre, Capitol Theatre, TIP, Charlottetown Festival, Mirvish, Drayton Entertainment, The Stratford Festival, The Shaw Festival, and 4 North Ameican and Broadway Tours. In 2016, Heather can be seen at The Neptune Theatre as Princess Fiona in Shrek.

What is seen onstage is only a fraction of the commitment, knowledge, business practices and training that goes into a professional career.

As a parent, do you have questions about what a career in the theatre is really like?

Would you like the opportunity to speak to two professionals who have successfully built fifteen year careers at many of Canada's best theatres?
